I'm starting this blog as a creative outlet for me. I have a long list of other blogs that I visit everyday. I figured it was time to start my own. I hope Lollygag can be a fraction of some of my other favorites-dooce, loobylu, suburbanbliss, wish jar journal and diary of daily dalliances to name a few.
I've thought about the name for about day or so. I wanted it simple yet defining and certainly not ordinary. The name finally hit me this morning while my husband expressed his concern to get going to Home Depot. I was at the computer doing my own thing when he stated, "Let's get going, I don't want to sit here and lollygag around all day." He is currently working on a project for my studio. A organizational, make his wife creatively happy project. He needed to get going to get the material so he could finish the ENTIRE project in one day. (I seriously doubted this) I realized then and there how much we differed. I figured out why I always have good intentions of getting all these things done and an entire weekend can pass and I didn't do half of what I set out to. The reason: Lollygagging
I looked in the dictionary to see if this was even a real word. I was pretty sure it was since I can remember my mom saying it a ton when I was a kid. My mom wouldn't be using some made up fictional word.
lol·ly·gag ( P ) Pronunciation Key (ll-gg) also lal·ly·gag (ll-)
intr.v. lol·ly·gagged, lol·ly·gag·ging, lol·ly·gags
To waste time by puttering aimlessly; dawdle.
I'm excited for my new project. I really hope to improve my writing skills. I want to be able to write freely with emotion and make it exciting and relatable to the reader. Please forgive any punctuation errors you may encounter on this wild trip. Stick with me and enjoy the ride.
P.S. The project in my studio was not completed today. I'm not at all unhappy about it though. I knew it was too much work to finish in one day. Stay tuned and check out the renovation photo album for pictures.
